We ask patrons to kindly abide by our policies. Violation of policies may result in loss of your use of the Computing Resource Center (CRC).
Policies and Procedures
Students from Other Departments or Colleges
Drexel University students from departments or colleges other than the College of Information Science and Technology (IST) are welcome to use the resources of the CRC. However, due to the demand IST students have for our resources, currently enrolled IST students will be given priority for use of computers and assistance from staff.
Reserving a Computer
Only currently enrolled IST students may reserve time on the CRC's computers.
- Students with reservations are given priority over those without reservations.
- Students may call as far ahead in advance as they wish to reserve a computer.
- Students may reserve a total of 2 hours per day for each of the following:
- Macintoshes and PC compatible workstations
- HP 9000 UNIX workstations
- Online searching terminals
Although you may not reserve the equipment listed above for more than two hours, you may use a computer for longer than two hours when no one else needs the machine you are using. If the computer you are using is needed, and your reserved time has expired, you will be asked to give up that computer.
No reservation is needed to use any of the Macintosh e-mail kiosks. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Reserving Equipment
Only faculty may reserve equipment. Faculty requests for equipment must be made one week before the equipment is actually needed. Any exception to this rule (for extraordinary circumstances) must be determined by the CRC director.
Students may reserve equipment for classes by contacting their class instructor. The instructor will then forward the request to the CRC.
Graduate Assistants
Graduate assistants (GAs) are responsible for managing and maintaining the resources of the Computing Resource Center. GAs are available to schedule equipment, check out materials, and provide assistance with machinery. GAs have varying levels of expertise regarding specific computer applications, and will assist students as their expertise and time permits.
Software
- Copyright laws are strictly observed.
- Illegal copies of software and games are prohibited.
- Students may not copy software onto CRC computers without express permission from CRC staff.
- Software may not be copied from machines.
