Drexel's Library Program
Drexel's master of science degree in library and information science from the College of Information Science and Technology was recently ranked in the top ten of library programs nationwide by U.S. News and World Report's 1996 America's Best Graduate Schools. As the second oldest program of its kind in the United States and the only such program in the Delaware Valley, Drexel's program is especially renowned for producing graduates who can succeed in a revolutionized profession.
Ranked in Top Ten NationwideThe Drexel program is ideal for students from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. Although a technical background is not required, the program puts an emphasis on exploring the key role of electronic resources in libraries. The curriculum enables students to combine library courses with courses in information systems. The majority of students attend part-time and usually take from two to three years to complete their master's degrees.
Graduates of Drexel's program often choose careers in information services in libraries and other settings. An M.S. student may obtain certification as a school library media specialist or in Judaica librarianship. The program also provides the necessary coursework for students preparing for certification as a medical information specialist.
